Their Role
As Managing Director, Coopper provides strategic leadership and oversees the day-to-day management of the firm. He directs MALEX’s growth strategy, capital allocation, and the coordination of its marketing, sales, and finance functions. His focus is on driving consistent commercial outcomes for partners while maintaining disciplined risk and governance standards.
As Head of Advisory, Coopper shapes the frameworks used by MALEX’s business, finance and property consultants, ensuring advice remains practical, data-driven, and aligned with the firm’s broader strategy. He works closely with the General Manager and Head of Risk & Governance to ensure alignment between strategy, execution, and compliance across all areas of the business.
Their Experience
Before founding MALEX, Coopper Kingsley built a diverse career spanning defence, law, and commercial consulting. He began his professional journey as an officer in the Australian Army, where he played an early role in establishing the Army Data Hub — a central unit responsible for synthesising intelligence and applying data science to operational and strategic decision-making. This experience developed his capability in systems thinking, leadership under pressure, and evidence-based planning.
Coopper later completed a Bachelor of Laws and transitioned into the private sector, joining KPMG as a Senior Manager in Commercial Consulting. There, he advised mid-market and enterprise clients on corporate strategy, operational transformation, and financial performance.
This mix of defence, legal, and commercial experience laid the foundation for MALEX’s advisory approach. Combining structured analysis with practical execution to help partners achieve sustainable, data-driven growth.
